Dakota Psychological Services LLC is a Forensic practice in Sioux Falls, SD, that opened in 2004. We believe in the power of rehabilitation, understanding that individuals can pave new paths for themselves with the right support, treatment, and resources, contributing positively to our community and society. Dakota Psychological Services is seeking a dedicated and experienced counselor to join our team in providing top-quality mental health services. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to clients with adult males under the supervision of the Department of Corrections or Probation. 
  • Conduct pre-release assessments on clients being released on parole.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in accordance with ethical and legal standards.
  • Participate in weekly case staffing. 
  • Stay current on the latest research and best practices in the field of mental health counseling through ongoing professional development.

Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure as a counselor (LPC, LMHC, LCSW, or equivalent) in the state of South Dakota. 
  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport with clients and work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards of practice.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude when faced with challenges or changes in the work environment.
  • Experience working within the prison or with adults and juveniles involved in the criminal justice system is a bonus but not required.
